The Department of Dermatology, Venereology and Leprology at PMRIMS is among the most vibrant
departments, delivering comprehensive care for an extensive range of skin conditions. With a skilled
faculty team, a state-of-the-art laboratory, and a dedicated dermatosurgery unit, the department provides
expert treatment across the full spectrum of dermatological subspecialties.
The department features a spacious outpatient wing, faculty offices, a well-stocked library, and a seminar
room outfitted with audiovisual aids for academic use. Specialized clinics include Cosmetology, Acne,
STD, and Leprosy, addressing the diverse needs of its patient population. The dermatology ward offers 40
inpatient beds, where complex and serious dermatological conditions such as severe drug reactions,
erythroderma, and immunobullous disorders are managed.
As a premier center for managing Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs), the department conducts
ongoing teaching, training, and research in this domain. It is equipped with cutting-edge technology,
including the latest lasers, phototherapy units, and radiofrequency machines, which are regularly updated
to enhance patient care.
The department is particularly recognized for excellence in patient care and research. It offers advanced
aesthetic dermatology treatments, a rapidly growing subspecialty, including chemical peels, platelet-rich
plasma therapy, and a range of laser procedures such as acne scar removal, hair reduction, and tattoo
and mole removal. The department also focuses on psychodermatology, addressing the psychological
dimensions of chronic skin conditions through a unique liaison clinic in collaboration with colleagues from
psychiatry and clinical psychology.
Regular academic sessions for postgraduate students and CME programs are conducted to ensure the
faculty remains at the forefront of dermatological knowledge. Faculty members also participate in
advanced training courses to stay updated in their areas of specialization.
