General Medicine

The Department of Medicine at PMRIMS is among the largest and most active departments, providing
wide-ranging healthcare services to both inpatient and outpatient populations. The department delivers
round-the-clock emergency care in the Emergency Ward and manages an array of specialized clinics,
including those for Geriatrics, Rheumatology, Gastroenterology (GE Clinic), and the ART Centre. It also
operates dedicated clinics for Diabetes, Hypertension, Thyroid conditions, and Hematology.
On average, the department admits 90 to 110 patients daily, with care coordinated by rotating units.
During disease outbreaks such as Dengue, H1N1, or Gastroenteritis, the department establishes
dedicated wards to manage these cases effectively. The Department of General Medicine is staffed by
highly skilled and experienced faculty, many of whom have trained at prestigious institutions. These
faculty members are dedicated to staying current with the latest medical developments and aim to set
standards in both knowledge and teaching.
General Medicine serves as the cornerstone for diagnosing and treating a wide spectrum of medical
conditions. Students develop a thorough understanding of various systems used in patient management,
supported by theoretical sessions and modern teaching resources available across all lecture halls. The
department is equipped with advanced facilities that allow faculty to provide both practical experience and
high-quality instruction. Faculty members also organize Continuing Medical Education (CME) programs
and attend national and international conferences to disseminate knowledge on medical advancements.
