General Surgery

The Department of General Surgery provides comprehensive surgical care, handling both conventional
and advanced laparoscopic procedures, including planned and emergency surgeries, with a strong
emphasis on advanced trauma management. The department receives a wide spectrum of cases,
including referrals from neighboring states for both emergency and elective surgical care.
The department is organized into five surgical units, each led by experienced faculty members. A
well-equipped operation theatre complex supports the performance of major and minor surgeries.
Radiology services, including CT scans and Ultrasound, are readily available to support surgical
decision-making.
In addition to general surgical care, the department operates specialized clinics including a Vascular
Clinic, Breast and Endocrine Clinic, and a GI Minimal Access Surgery Clinic, along with Uro, Neuro,
Plastic, and Paediatric Surgery clinics. Efforts are underway to establish Bariatric Surgical facilities and a
dedicated skill lab for further training. The department actively supports research activities both within and
across other hospital departments, and organizes various academic activities including regular CMEs,
conferences, and postgraduate teaching sessions.
